Propeller Arrester FAQs
1. Will the lines cause damage to my own vessel/prop?
No. The design of the propeller arresters™ is such that the length of the 'rope', the weight of the floats and forward movement of your vessel means that they will not interfere with your own propeller or be dragged under by the turbulence / vortex's produced.
2. How long does it take for the lines to deploy?
Deployment of the lines whilst underway is about 30 seconds from release point
3. How long will it take to reel in the lines after use?
It takes about 3 minutes for each reel to wind in, and is a simple operation for any deckhand
4. Will they cause the pirates to capsize or sink?
The weak link system has been designed to break under sufficient load if a vessel gets tangled
5. How do I repair a reel if the line breaks?
Lines and weak links can easily be supplied in the event that a replacement is required
6. How do I rig the reels to the ship?
The reels should be clipped onto heavy duty booms extending 10 mtrs from the side of your vessel every 3 mtrs and the booms should be placed every 75 mtrs from the foc'sle to the stern. Stern reels should be attached to the stern every 3 mtrs across the full breadth of the vessel
7. Will the reels rust?
No they are made from Marine Grade Stainless Steel and are heavy duty, bespoke for shipping
8. How heavy are the reels?
The reels weigh approx 10 kgs each including the weight of the line
9. Can I buy replacement reels?

10. What happens if the lines snag around flotsam?
In trials the lines did not snag on any flotsam or debris as each of the lines are single units and not connected to each other

Propeller arresters™ should be used all round the vessel as per our recommendation
